We have a variety of day trips on offer if you should decide you would
like to take advantage of the fact that St Johann is such a fantastic
location to so many other places. There is a different place to go each
day, Monday to Saturday so you will never be bored.

Innsbruck and Swarovski Crystal World (Monday)
On the way to Innsbruck the tour stops at Wattens where you will
visit the Swarokovski Crystal World. This is a very modern museum, which
has been designed by architects from all over Europe and has artworks by
artists such as Salvador Dali. It is not what you would traditionally
expect from a crystal museum. After the visit you are then taken on a
fully guided tour of Innsbruck which is the capital of Tirol, and an
Olympic city with many famous sites to see such as the Golden Roof of
the Old Town.

Grossglockner - High Alpine Road (Tuesday)
Grossglockner is Austria's highest mountain at 12460 feet and is
also the country's largest glacier. The Alpine road which leads to
Grossglockner is itself an experience with over 30 hairpin bends before
reaching a summit at 8,000 feet called "Franz-Josephs-Hohe". There is an
amazing panoramic view from here and you will have time for lunch, or go
for a walk on the glacier.

Lake Garda - Italy (Tuesday)
A day trip to Lake Garda in Italy going via the Brennerpass
before passing all the beautiful Italian countryside of vineyards and
apple plantations. You pass through the towns of Bolzano and Trento
before reaching Lake Garda. The northern part of the lake is very narrow
and is surrounded by steep mountains whereas the southern part is spread
out and creates a shallow basin. The area has a very Mediterranean feel
with lots of palms, and lemon and orange groves. There is a boat trip
which you can take on the lake for a cost of 5 euro, or just enjoy the
beautiful city of Riva del Garda.

Hintertux (Wednesday)
Hintertux is at the end of the Ziller Valley. You can enjoy the
town of Hintertux, or for 21 euro you can take the chairlift up to the
Sommerbergalm and the Hintertux Glacier. At the glacier you are
completely shielded from the wind and weather on the Gefrorene Wand
("Frozen Face"), which is just under 10 000 feet. It is a spectacular
view extending from the Zugspitze all the way to the Dolomites.

Munich (Thursday)
Why not visit the capital of Bavaria in Germany and experience
some of the many highlights that Munich has to offer, whilst enjoying a
Bavarian beer which is famous all over the world. After an orientation
drive around Munich you will then have the opportunity to explore
Marienplatz, with the chiming clock (carillion), which everyone will
stop to look at, the Olympic Stadium, the many baroque churches and
palaces, or just sit back and enjoy a beer at the Hofbrauhaus, or one of
the many beer gardens located in Munich.

Salzburg (Friday)
Why not visit Salzburg, it just would not seem like you have
really been to Austria if you didn't go there. Salzburg is the
birthplace of Mozart and has become famous the world over for the film
"The Sound of Music". There is a lot to see in Salzburg and there are
many historical buildings all within a short walk of each other.

Lake Chiemsee - King Ludwig's Palace (Saturday)
On the way you will go via the romantic village of Reit im Winkl
before coming to Chiemsee which is known locally as the "Bavarian Sea".
It is the largest lake in Bavaria and situated in the middle of it is an
island. On the island is the Castle Herrenchiemsee, a palace built by
the eccentric, and sometimes referred to as "mad" King Ludwig of
Bavaria. The island and palace are only accessible by boat.
